Free Wi-Fi in D.C. during Microsoft Conference

The District will install free Wi-Fi hotspots in the Chinatown and Penn Quarter neighborhoods in advance of Microsoft Corp.’s Worldwide Partner Conference, scheduled to hit D.C. July 11-15.

The publicly-available hotspots should be activated several days prior to the 10,000-delegate conference and remain in place after the event for residents, businesses and visitors to use, the Washington Convention and Sports Authority announced today. Each hotspot will support 802.11 b/g Wi-Fi standards with access speeds up to 20 Mbps.
